Falcons player No. 1 who could ruin 49ers day: WR Drake London

Former USC wide receiver Drake London, the Falcons’ top pick from this year’s NFL Draft, has been one of the bigger bright spots for a rebuilding Atlanta team, and all signs are pointing to him being a cornerstone of this franchise for some time.

Through five weeks, the 6-foot-5, 210-pound rookie has already mustered 22 catches for 266 yards and two touchdowns on one of the poorer passing offenses in the league.

What makes this particular player a bit more concerning for the Niners, however, is the fact they’ll be experimenting with different options at cornerback to replace Emmanuel Moseley. Sure, San Francisco would ideally have No. 1 corner Charvarius Ward shadow London at every play, but the game plan doesn’t always pan out in that manner.

So, what’s likely to be the case is a 49ers backup defensive back matching up against a promising rookie.

And if London winds up winning a good chunk of those matchups, it could spell trouble for the Niners.

San Francisco and Atlanta kick off on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. ET from Mercedes Benz Stadium.
