Falcons player No. 3 who could ruin 49ers day: DT Grady Jarrett

Atlanta isn’t exactly known for its defense, and there aren’t too many standout players the 49ers would have to worry about in Week 6 who could impact the outcome on that side of the ball.

However, one player who potentially could is two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Grady Jarrett.

Jarrett, who played a big role in the Falcons nearly upsetting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 5, is an excellent interior disruptor who uses his short, squatty frame to gain leverage against offensive linemen.

And having done so in the league for some time now, and with plenty of success, he could easily make life difficult on a still-questionable crop of interior Niners offensive linemen.

Simply put, Jarrett might have his way with offensive guards Aaron Banks and Spencer Burford, as well as overpowering center Jake Brendel.

Jarrett’s 3.5 sacks on the year is quite an accomplishment, especially considering he doesn’t particularly have a lot of pass-rushing help to support him.

Either way, San Francisco’s need to keep quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo upright will hinge largely on its ability to limit Jarrett’s impact.
