The 49ers’ recent rash of injuries could be problematic, yet there’s potentially good news with Nick Bosa being available for Week 6 against the Falcons.

The San Francisco 49ers’ injury report heading into their Week 6 road bout against the 2-3 Atlanta Falcons is turning into quite the laundry list.

Part of this is due to the fact head coach Kyle Shanahan hasn’t designated some players to injured reserve, and as of this moment, cornerback Emmanuel Moseley is merely listed as OUT for the Niners’ tilt versus Atlanta.

Despite the fact Moseley suffered a torn ACL during San Francisco’s Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers, resulting in him needing season-ending surgery.

Still, the 49ers are going to be somewhat shorthanded for Week 6 against a feisty Falcons team that prefers to run the ball and has surprisingly managed to get to a game below the .500 mark despite having one of the poorer pound-for-pound rosters in the NFL.

In contrast, the Niners will have to rely heavily on their depth.

49ers could have Nick Bosa back for Falcons game

If there’s a shred of good news for Shanahan and Co., it’s the possibility Pro Bowl EDGE Nick Bosa and his team-leading six sacks may be able to return from a groin injury suffered in Week 5.

Bosa, who exited early in the third quarter of that game and didn’t return, also sat out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday but was a participant during Friday’s drills as the team’s temporary road home at the Greenbriar Resort in West Virginia.

Having Bosa back would go a long way toward ensuring Atlanta’s offense doesn’t grind down the Niners’ defense on Sunday.

Still, Bosa is listed as questionable and isn’t fully guaranteed or even listed as “probable” to make an appearance. Even if he does, it’s possible San Francisco puts him on a snap count.

49ers injury report Week 6 vs. Falcons

Following Friday’s practice, Shanahan briefed reporters on the team’s injury updates:

Out

  • DL Arik Armstead (foot)
  • DT Javon Kinlaw (knee)
  • CB Emmanuel Moseley (knee)
  • DB Jimmie Ward (hand)
  • T Trent Williams (ankle)

Questionable

  • DL Nick Bosa (groin)
  • OL Aaron Banks (knee)
  • TE Tyler Kroft (knee)

Ward, who suffered a broken hand against the Panthers on his first play this season after missing the first four weeks with a hamstring injury, might potentially return the following week if it’s determined he can play with a club.

Williams, meanwhile, appears to be getting closer to a return, but the 49ers may elect to be patient with him and wait another week for a highly anticipated matchup against the vaunted Kansas City Chiefs.

In the meantime, second-year lineman Jaylon Moore will likely get the start at left tackle.

The Niners and Falcons kick off on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. ET from Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
