The 49ers have hit some highs and lows in the first month of the season, but there have been a few players who have definitely impressed.

The first month of 2022 has been a rollercoaster ride for the San Francisco 49ers, alternating between a loss and a win for the first month.

The offense has been stalling a bit for the first month, as quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has once again taken the reins due to Trey Lance‘s ankle injury. Injuries to the offensive line and running backs haven’t helped matters either.

The defense has been humming much more efficiently, however, despite its own shares of injuries, and this unit has made things absolute hell for opposing offenses.

Let’s take a look at four standouts for San Francisco in this first month.

49ers Standout No. 1: EDGE Nick Bosa

We already knew EDGE Nick Bosa is about a hundred different kinds of awesome, but add in the motivation of a contract year, and he’s been camping out in opposing backfields for the first month.

Bosa has six sacks so far for the season, recording 14 pressures against the Los Angeles Rams alone (a career record) and 30 pressures for the season, which is good for first in the entire NFL.

Bosa is an All-Pro kind of player already, but he’s taken his game to an even higher level this year. He could very well be Defensive Player of the Year and break the single-season sack record if he keeps up this production.

And, to make things even more interesting, he plays his best friend (that’s sarcasm, if the text didn’t shine through) in the Carolina Panthers’ Baker Mayfield.

We all know how that worked out last time. Bosa is going to be even more dangerous if that’s even somehow possible.

It’s becoming more and more clear the 49ers should just hand Bosa a blank cheque and let him write down the number to keep him locked in at San Francisco as long as possible.

Whatever he writes down, it would not be too high.
