Deebo Samuel makes insane catch-and-run touchdown vs. Rams
By Peter Panacy
With the 49ers needing to pull off a win against the Rams on Monday night, Deebo Samuel took it upon himself with an amazing touchdown score.
The San Francisco 49ers need to get back into the win column to avoid a 1-3 start, and doing so against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football would be the best way to do it.
The Niners already responded to LA getting on the board first with a field goal, as running back Jeff Wilson Jr. scampered into the end zone for a 32-yard touchdown to make it 7-3.
However, after San Francisco’s offense went 3-and-out its following possession, which led to Los Angeles closing the gap with another field goal, what better way to spark a struggling offense than by getting the ball into All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel‘s hands?
Jimmy Garoppolo connects with Deebo Samuel for a jaw-dropping 49ers touchdown
At the 3:01 mark of the second quarter, and with the 49ers on their own 43-yard line facing a 3rd-and-3 down, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo might have continued his reputation of throwing to players a little bit high.
However, in this case, it worked. And Garoppolo certainly put his pass intended for Samuel in a place where only he could get it.
The result? Nothing short of a 57-yard touchdown with Samuel eluding defenders and speeding his way into the end zone for six.
Seriously, it was one of the best plays seen all season, and that’s no hyperbole:

Needless to say, our former FanSided colleague, Matt Lombardo, is absolutely correct with his take here:
That got the Niners out to a 14-6 lead, and the momentum shifted almost entirely in San Francisco’s favor.
Heading into halftime, the 49ers will certainly be looking towards Deebo Samuel even more with the hopes of pulling off yet another victory over their NFC West rivals from Southern California.
