49ers dud vs. Broncos: Offensive line

In two of San Francisco’s three games, the offensive line surpassed expectations.

Week 3 was the exception. It was not a good outing overall.

The biggest blow, of course, was losing All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams to a high-ankle sprain on the same play where Jimmy Garoppolo committed that safety in the back of the end zone. Second-year swing tackle Jaylon Moore entered in relief and subsequently gave up a sack on his first pass set thereafter, being benched in favor of Colton McKivitz from that point onward.

Right tackle Mike McGlinchey, often overworked by Broncos EDGEs Bradley Chubb and Randy Gregory, was also flagged for a holding call, while rookie right guard Spencer Burford was flagged twice and surrendered three pressures, too, marking his worst game as a pro yet.

And center Jake Brendel botched a snap with Garoppolo that ended up being fumbled? Yeah, Denver recovering that miscue hurt matters a lot.
