The 49ers head to Denver to take on Russell Wilson and the Broncos in Week 3, and Niner Noise makes some bold predictions for the game.

It’s been a wild start to the season for the San Francisco 49ers, starting off 1-1 after an opening-week loss to the Chicago Bears in a monsoon at Soldier Field before returning home to win-smash their rivals, the Seattle Seahawks, in the 2022 opener for Levi’s Stadium.

Of course, the opening victory of the year was bittersweet as the team lost quarterback Trey Lance, presumably for the rest of the season, meaning the Niners are back to being Jimmy Garoppolo‘s team for the foreseeable future.

And with that, the 49ers head to Denver to take on their old nemesis, Russell Wilson, who orchestrated a trade from Seattle to Denver after a decade with the Seahawks.

Wilson was a thorn in the side of the Niners while he was a Seahawk, and it’s fair to say most Niners fans weren’t too sad to see him leave the division. But it’s ironic that in his first year away from the Pacific Northwest, San Francisco gets to see him yet again in his first year as the Broncos’ signal-caller.

Denver has gotten off to a slow start, and although the 1-1 record matches the 49ers’ so far, the offense has been odd. They’re seventh in the NFL in total yards (783) but dead last in points, having scored just 16 points in each of their first two games.

The Broncos defense has been solid so far, as they’re third in the NFL in both points and yards allowed through two weeks, albeit against the Seahawks and the Texans, two offenses that aren’t exactly among the league’s best.

With all this in mind, the Niners take their fourth-ranked defense (per Football Outsiders’ DVOA) into Denver.

Let’s make some bold predictions about the game.
