49ers vs. Broncos prop bet No. 3: Taking the under on Denver’s first-half points (-128)

There are a number of key reasons why the final 49ers prop bet (well, technically a Broncos prop bet here) would be a safe gamble even if it’s the favored option.

Denver’s first-half over/under is 10.5, and betting the under is actually favored at -128 in contrast to the over at +106.

Remember that part about the Broncos offense struggling this season with only 32 total points? Well, last week against Houston, Denver managed only six first-half points, and it also scored just 13 over the first two quarters versus Seattle in Week 1.

Neither the Texans nor Seahawks defense hold a candle to what the Niners boast under coordinator DeMeco Ryans, whose defensive unit ranks No. 1 in the NFL in fewest yards allowed (420), No. 2 in fewest yards per play (4.1), No. 1 in fewest pass yards allowed (285) and No. 1 in average rush yards per play (2.6).

Simply put, it’s going to be tough for Denver to move the ball despite Russell Wilson being there, and his knack for doing damage against the Niners has historically taken place in the second half of games anyway.

Yes, taking the under on the Broncos’ first-half points seems to be the safe bet here.

San Francisco and Denver kick off on Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET.
