49ers vs. Broncos prop bet No. 1: A field goal is Niners’ first score (+115)

According to the oddsmakers over at FanDuel, the Niners’ first scoring play against the Broncos is favored to be a touchdown at -165.

That could be a safe bet considering head coach Kyle Shanahan’s scripted opening drives generated plenty of success a year ago with Jimmy Garoppolo under center, and there’s no doubting San Francisco will want to set the tone, offensively, as soon as possible.

However, with Garoppolo only recently having worked with the first-team offense (he didn’t partake in training camp or preseason practices), one might expect there to be a little bit of rust despite the quarterback flashing some success in relief of Trey Lance a week ago.

Tack on the fact Denver is tied with the 49ers for the third-best scoring defense through two weeks (26 points allowed), and one might figure the Niners’ initial scoring drive might not culminate with an end-zone score but rather with a field goal by kicker Robbie Gould.

Consider grabbing San Francisco’s first scoring play being a field goal at +115 as the road team in a hostile environment against what’s looking to be a decent Broncos defense.
