The San Francisco 49ers are visiting the Chicago Bears in Week 1 of the 2022 season. Here are the three best prop bets to make for this contest.

Despite being the visiting team in their first game of the 2022 season, many experts are predicting the San Francisco 49ers to take care of business in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears. Oddsmakers at Fanduel Sportsbook would concur, as the 49ers enter the week as 6.5-point favorites.

The start of the NFL season will bring enough excitement in itself, but for those who want to add some extra incentive, prop bets are the way to go. Here are the three best prop bets to place this week on the 49ers vs Bears opening matchup.

Alternate Total Points Prop Bets: OVER 43.5 (+140)

Week 1 outcomes and point totals can be tricky to predict at times as NFL teams try to get back into the swing of things. However, I would consider taking an alternate point total for 49ers season opener. Fanduel Sportsbook has the original over/under set at just 40.5 points with -110 odds. I prefer hitting the ‘over’ of the alternate point total of 43.5 at +140.

In San Francisco’s opener last season against the Lions, the two teams combined for a whopping 74 points. Additionally, when the 49ers played the Bears last season, they combined for 55 points. Even with a new QB at the helm, it seems probable that the over of 43.5 points will hit, and it offers a notably better payout than the original over/under.

Double Result Prop Bets: 49ers (-150)

If you think the 49ers are going to win this game (and I do), it’s probably not a bad idea to place a double results prop bet on them. For those unfamiliar, this means betting that a team will not only win the game but will also be winning at halftime.

Betting San Francisco to win straight-up has a moneyline of just -330. However, doing a double results prop bet for the 49ers to be in the lead at halftime and close out the win gives you -150 odds. The last time these two teams met in 2021, Kyle Shanahan’s team won by two scores (though it is worth noting that they trailed by four points at the half). This time around, I think the 49ers maintain control throughout the game.

Anytime Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets: Elijah Mitchell (+135)

Touchdown scorer prop bets can be a bit riskier, but I think there’s a good chance running back Elijah Mitchell comes away with a score against the Bears. In the season-opener last year, San Francisco actually ran the ball more times than they passed as Mitchell carved up Detroit’s defense for over 100 yards and a score.

Against the Bears last year, Mitchell found tremendous success on the ground with 137 yards and a touchdown in Week 8. Mitchell should take another step forward to begin year two of his NFL career and could prove to have an even bigger role in San Francisco’s offense in 2022.
