The 49ers wrap up their 2022 preseason on the road against the Texans, and we’ve got your latest injury updates, betting odds and how you can watch live.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan elected to rest nearly all of his starters for the San Francisco 49ers’ second preseason bout of 2022, which turned into a 17-7 road win over the Minnesota Vikings last Saturday.

It’s looking as if the Niners’ exhibition finale against the Houston Texans will look much more like a regular-season dress rehearsal with far more of Shanahan’s first-stringers suiting up and playing.

San Francisco squares off with Houston at NRG Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 22, with kickoff taking place at 8:15 p.m. ET. And while there’ll be plenty of storylines to watch, seeing quarterback Trey Lance on the field again after he sat out the Vikings game should draw plenty of interest.

Especially if the Texans follow a similar path as the 49ers do, fielding most of their starters.

In Week 17 last season, during a must-win game for the Niners, Lance helped engineer a 23-7 victory over Houston, albeit in a much more meaningful context than what both he and the rest of the red and gold will face on Thursday night.

Let’s break down the latest betting odds, injury updates and information on how you can tune in live for this San Francisco-Houston preseason bout.

49ers injury report vs. Texans, preseason Week 3

Teams aren’t required to submit official injury reports during the preseason as they are ahead of regular-season contests, but we do know the Niners are dealing with some notable setbacks.

Safety Jimmie Ward (hamstring) is expected to miss some time when the regular season rolls around, and San Francisco recently inked veteran safety Tashaun Gipson to help plug the gap, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Cornerback Charvarius Ward is also working his way back from injury and is expected to return by Week 1 but likely sits versus the Texans.

Depth wide receiver Austin Mack is also dealing with a hamstring issue and is going to be out a few weeks, according to Shanahan.

49ers vs. Texans odds, spread, over/under and moneyline for preseason Week 3

According to the betting oddsmakers over at the Action Network, the Niners enter this contest as four-point road favorites. Even if both teams field their starters, San Francisco’s roster is considerably more talented and playoff-worthy than Houston’s, so the spread makes sense in that regard.

Even though neither side will care too much about the final score.

The Niners’ moneyline for the game is -182, while the Texans’ is +150.

The over/under is currently set at 39.5.
