49ers already hefty road favorites over Bears in Week 1
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers open up their 2022 regular-season campaign on the road against the Bears, and the Niners already open up as sizable betting favorites.
There are still over two weeks remaining before the NFL kicks off the official start of the 2022 season, and plenty of developments are taking place between now and then.
But, at least the early signs are pointing to the San Francisco 49ers starting their regular-season campaign off on the right foot.
The Niners open up the regular season by visiting the Chicago Bears in Week 1, and it’ll be a provocative matchup featuring two quarterbacks selected in Round 1 of the 2021 NFL Draft, San Francisco’s own at No. 3 overall that year, Trey Lance, and Justin Fields of the Bears, who was selected not long thereafter at No. 11 overall.
Recalling those weeks leading up to the 2021 draft, there was no shortage of speculation and thought that the 49ers could end up grabbing Fields, whom they ultimately saw and defeated in Week 8 of his rookie season.
Perhaps fans should place betting odds on how much the Fox broadcast crew talks about the comparison between the two first-round picks during the game.
One in which the Niners are nicely favored.
49ers open up as solid betting favorites for Week 1 at Bears
Chicago didn’t exactly do much to build up a receiving corps to assist Fields during the offseason, losing wide receiver Allen Robinson to the Los Angeles Rams but grabbing a former San Francisco wideout in Dante Pettis.
Not a needle-mover there.
And while the Bears defense is poised to be improved over 2021, the 49ers nevertheless enter this bout as sizable favorites.
According to the oddsmakers over at WynnBET, the Niners are 6.5-point favorites with the moneyline at -290 for San Francisco.

Considering the home team is usually awarded three points on the spread outright, it’s pretty safe to say the 49ers have a sizable edge towards starting off the season 1-0.
Of course, Week 1 games can always be a bit odd, and the Niners will look to avoid slipping up early against a team they should beat with relatively few challenges.
Lance, of course, will have a lot to do with how that outcome develops.
San Francisco and Chicago open up their 2022 regular-season campaigns on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. ET at Soldier Field.
