Following two joint practices together, the 49ers and Vikings square off for Week 2 of the preseason, and Niner Noise has all your gameday info.

We’re almost beyond the halfway point of the 2022 preseason, and that’ll officially be the case went the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings wrap up their second game of the three-week exhibition period in advance of Week 1 in early September.

Following two joint practices in Minnesota, both the Niners and Vikings square off for Saturday night’s preseason bout in which head coach Kyle Shanahan already made it clear the bulk of San Francisco’s starters (and even some primary backups) won’t see the field.

This could include quarterback Trey Lance, whose 76-yard long touchdown pass in preseason Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers potentially shed light on what’s to come in his first full year as a starter.

However, fans looking for Lance to repeat that on back-to-back weeks may be disappointed unless they’re equally excited to see the 49ers’ two backup signal-callers, Nate Sudfeld and Brock Purdy, take the field for extended action.

We’ve got all your need-to-know gameday information right here.

49ers injury report vs. Vikings preseason Week 2

Teams aren’t required to submit weekly injury reports during the preseason as they are during the regular season.

However, Shanahan informed reporters that two of his defensive backs, Jimmie Ward (hamstring) and Dontae Johnson (ribs), are going to be out for a while, and Ward could potentially miss time in the regular season, too.

Likewise, veteran offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill suffered a hamstring injury after just one snap versus the Packers and will likely miss the rest of the preseason, too.

Meanwhile, defensive tackle Arik Armstead and cornerbacks Charvarius Ward and Emmanuel Moseley are all nursing minor injuries and aren’t expected to see the field anyway.
