Things might have gotten chippy during one session of 49ers training camp when a fight broke out between Fred Warner and Brandon Aiyuk.

The San Francisco 49ers are probably getting sick of each other.

With over a week of training camp now in the books, players have been squaring up against each other on a regular basis, and it doesn’t take too much of that before some nerves get a bit frayed.

During Tuesday’s practice, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk let some earlier known frustrations with linebacker Fred Warner boil over to the point where a scrum ensued in the middle of the practice field outside Levi’s Stadium.

The San Jose Mercury News‘ Cam Inman reported the following:

“Fred is irritating,” Aiyuk said after one of last week’s practices, via 49ers Webzone. “He told me what type of time it is in the locker room earlier today, so I can’t be mad at him. We’re all competitors. That defense is the best defense in the National Football League, so that’s the cream of the crop when we go against those guys. We know we have to bring it every single day.”

Good thing the fight was quickly resolved after a brief pause to practice.

It’s not uncommon for fights to break out during training camp, and one can only hope the competitive nature of both Warner and Aiyuk boiled over will cool down shortly.

Either way, it’s probably safe to say the Niners are looking forward to joint practices against the Minnesota Vikings ahead of both teams’ second preseason game later this August.

San Francisco and Minnesota are scheduled to have two practices together starting on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

49ers rookie WR Danny Gray has his best training camp practice

The 49ers aren’t going to be putting their third-round rookie, former SMU wide receiver Danny Gray, on the roster bubble on the basis of his relatively high status in this year’s NFL Draft.

Yet Gray started off slow during camp, having difficulty getting away from press coverage at the line of scrimmage. And considering his speed was his best attribute, not being able to get into gear early could be a problem.

Fortunately, as reported by The Athletic’s Matt Barrows, Gray was able to rebound nicely on Tuesday:

Gray isn’t going to be awfully high on the depth chart, at least not with Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and Jauan Jennings all solidly ahead of the rookie there.

Yet Gray’s recent performance should increase his chances of being more impactful in year one.

John Lynch on Jimmy Garoppolo trade: 49ers will ‘stay patient through this one’ (David Bonilla, 49ers Webzone)

"The list of quarterback-needy teams dwindled in the following months, leaving the 49ers with few options. A release would free up most of Garoppolo’s over $26 million salary-cap hit. However, it would also allow him to sign anywhere—including the division-rival Seattle Seahawks—with San Francisco receiving nothing in return."

Discussing building a roster for training camp with former 49ers GM Scot McCloughan (Jordan Elliott, Niners Nation)

"“It’s the GM route to go with the young guy, the coaches run the show you’re going with the vet,” McCloughan said. “Draft picks play into it big time. It shouldn’t, because I always say if I screw up and I take a guy in the first round, we see no upside with him. Cut him. Let’s move, on we screwed up. Lot of people can’t do that, the egos. There’s politics involved, no doubt about it, 100%.”"

49ers Have a Problem With Their Interior Offensive Line (Jose Luis Sanchez III, Sports Illustrated)

"So many moving parts at offensive line is not conducive to success. The 49ers have to find the right formula for the interior offensive line so that it does not become a liability in passing plays for [Trey] Lance."

NFL’s best players ever at every offensive position: Jerry Rice or Randy Moss at WR? (ESPN Staff)

"[Jerry] Rice led the league in receiving yards six times and receiving touchdowns six times. Even in these pass-happy times, with all of the numbers that receivers pile up each year, Rice is still the league’s all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and yards from scrimmage. But he was at his best in the biggest moments. He played in 29 playoff games and had 22 TD receptions in those games, including eight in Super Bowls (three titles in four appearances)."

Most overrated player on 49ers roster entering 2022 (Brad Weiss, FanSided)

"On defense, one player who needs to step up in 2022 is Javon Kinlaw, who was the team’s first-round pick back in 2020. Kinlaw is coming back from injury in 2022 and has yet to live up to his first-round billing this early in his career."
