What 49ers would rename Levi’s Stadium (if they ever chose to)

No. 2: 49ers rename Levi’s Stadium “Ghirardelli Stadium”

Alright, so we didn’t want to jump on board with a massive corporate entity, regardless of whether it’s known or not, which means you can forget about the idea of Oracle, Tesla, Google, Apple or whatever taking over the naming rights to Levi’s Stadium.

If there’s one cool thing about the Levi’s in Levi’s Stadium, though, it’s the fact Levi Strauss & Co. had its origins in San Francisco during the Gold Rush of 1849 and into the 1850s.

You know, the one that gave the 49ers their “49ers” team name?

Well, we’re not sticking with the same stadium name in this exercise, but it’s certainly worth exploring another Bay Area iconic company that has ties to that period in California history.

Everyone’s favorite chocolatier on the West Coast, the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company.

“Ghirardelli Stadium” might be a mess to spell on programs, and the non-chocolate fans out there will unquestionably have a tough time pronouncing it. Especially if those fans haven’t been to the famed Ghirardelli Square in downtown San Francisco.

Those who have been there, though, know fully well a similar section of

Levi’s Stadium

… err, Ghirardelli Stadium would be absolutely delicious.
