Predicting 5 games in which Trey Lance struggles most in 2022

No. 2: Trey Lance could struggle vs. Rams defense in Weeks 4 and 8
OK, so perhaps Kyle Shanahan still has the reputation of “owning” the Los Angeles Rams despite the Niners’ crushing loss in the NFC Championship game last season, which only makes Shanahan 6-1 over the last seven games against LA head coach Sean McVay.
However, with Trey Lance entering the fray, the context will be entirely different.
It cuts both ways, yes, but we can’t deny the prowess the Super Bowl-winning Los Angeles defense will have this season after ensuring All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald isn’t going anywhere and then grabbing another All-Pro, linebacker Bobby Wagner, in free agency.
The last we checked, cornerback Jalen Ramsey is pretty good, too.

Lance’s first matchup against this Rams group will be a high-profile, primetime matchup on Monday Night Football in Week 4, and it’ll be interesting to see how the second-year quarterback reacts to what’ll be only his second bright-lights game as a starter. Will he crack under the pressure, or will he rise to the occasion?
It’s anyone’s guess.
However, the true test might actually be in Week 8 on the road in Southern California, a situation in which Lance might apply what he learned in the first bout between these two NFC West rivals.
Still, it’ll be a tough challenge in both contests.
