There are quite a few San Francisco 49ers that fantasy football owners will be keen to get their hands on, but wide receiver Jauan Jennings is sliding a bit under the radar.

In a way, fantasy football is a lot like regular football in the sense that star players can net you a win, but it’s the depth behind them that provide the championships.

Teams are a result of the sum of their parts, and all fantasy football owners this offseason are looking for the hidden gems who can truly make their team into a contender.

As fantasy owners, it’s important not to overvalue your own team, but it’s equally as important to take advantage of the extra knowledge you possess.

If you’re aware of a sleeper pick that others aren’t, then go for it.

This season could be the year that San Francisco 49ers third-year wide receiver Jauan Jennings comes into his own, as he comes off the back of a hot end to the 2021 season and came into 2022 turning heads in organized team activities.

Jauan Jennings may be a fantasy football hidden gem

Jennings had multiple catches in all but one of the final eight games of the season (including playoffs) with his best game coming in the must-win Week 17 game against the Los Angeles Rams where he had six receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns.

The only game where Jennings did not record multiple receptions in this span was the defense-dominated NFC divisional playoff game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Given how that game went, we’ll give him a pass.

Jennings has taken full advantage of fellow receiver Deebo Samuel being off the field so far, wasting no time in building a rapport with new quarterback Trey Lance. Lance has taken a liking to Jennings in practices so far, and with new quarterbacks often comes new preferred targets.

Obviously, Jennings isn’t a sure thing. The 49ers like to run the ball, and Jennings has to fight for receptions with Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle.

But all the signs point to a bigger role in the offense for 2022 and beyond.

Stash Jennings on your fantasy benches if you can, he’s going to be the third wide receiver on a pretty dynamic offense, and he’s going to pop up in the red-zone plays, too.

If he realizes his potential, it could be a real breakout season.
