Former 49ers draft pick No. 2: Safety Jaquiski Tartt (2015)

Of note, at no point in this article is anything being said about the players on this list “shouldn’t” play another down in the NFL again.

Rather the list is merely pointing out the sheer possibility.

It’s unfortunate for former San Francisco starting safety Jaquiski Tartt, too, whose dropped would-be interception in a crucial moment of the 2022 NFC Championship game is likely the last memory 49ers fans will have of him.

Brutal. Especially considering Tartt is an all-around excellent player when healthy.

Alas, though, Tartt does come with an injury history, and that’s certainly something that influenced the 30-year-old second-round draft pick from 2015 not being re-signed this offseason. And no other team has taken an interest in bringing Tartt aboard either, perhaps as a direct result of the 2022 offseason being chock full with younger and likely cheaper safeties to fit the bill.

Of the players on this list, though, Tartt probably stands the biggest chance to sign on somewhere, particularly if another team loses a safety to injury at some point.

Perhaps even the Niners, should they entertain a reunion.
