No. 3: 49ers linebacker Oren Burks

One of the new faces for the Niners, linebacker Oren Burks, was brought aboard primarily for his prowess on special teams, which was a notable San Francisco weakness a year ago.

It makes sense, however, why the Green Bay Packers hesitated to feature Burks on defense, though, and that showed when he was successfully juked by running back JaMycal Hasty on a wheel-route passing play.

According to Eric Branch, it was a nice move by Hasty, who is also fighting for a roster spot amid a crowded offensive backfield.

However, it’s not a good look for Burks.

Granted, Burks should be safely on the roster because of his special teams abilities. Yet his pass-coverage skills appear to lack a lot of the necessary thump needed to be a rotational defensive player.
