Massive 49ers fan No. 1: Tom Brady

OK, you know we had to go here.

Yes, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady probably isn’t openly rooting for the Niners these days, and he surely won’t be doing so at least until he retires.

And while there have been reports he dropped his San Francisco fandom as soon as his boyhood team passed on him in the 2000 NFL Draft, it’s hard to ignore the little nuggets out there that pull him back to being a fan of the red and gold.

Even posting a boyhood picture of himself from the 49ers’ legendary victory over the Cowboys in the 1982 NFC Championship game at Candlestick Park:

Going back to Brady’s memories from Candlestick, he was another one of those notables regularly featured in the Joe Montana: Cool Under Pressure documentary.

While we can fairly question whether or not Brady still has loyalty to the Niners to this day, it’s hard to ignore how glowing he gets when talking about his idol, Joe Montana, in that particular film.

Either way, growing up close to San Francisco in nearby San Mateo, California, Brady was immersed in all things 49ers during the 1980s. It left an indelible mark on him that ultimately changed the landscape of the NFL forever.

Guess that counts to put him on this list, too.
