No. 3 can’t-miss game on 49ers schedule 2022: Week 14 vs. Buccaneers

Future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady will return to Levi’s Stadium for the last time. Hopefully, as the ageless Brady continues his playing career, he will face the team he grew up cheering for, for just the fourth time (2-1 so far).

The last time we saw Brady at Levi’s Stadium was in 2016 when he was donning a New England Patriots uniform when he defeated a less-than-capable 49ers team 30-17.

This time, he comes in with an experienced Buccaneers roster that just tasted a Super Bowl victory two seasons ago and nearly faced the Niners in the NFC Championship game last season.

The crucial pieces still remain with Brady: wide receivers Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, and potentially tight end Rob Gronkowski, who has yet to commit to anything.

Defensively, the Bucs brought back much of the same unit as well, as they were able to sign top free-agent cornerback Carlton Davis. In the offseason, they acquired a familiar face for Brady in offensive guard Shaq Mason, while also adding veteran receiver Russell Gage from the Atlanta Falcons.

Brady versus San Francisco will bring tons of drama with it, mainly because of trade rumors that circled around Brady and the 49ers the majority of the offseason before he ultimately signed with the Bucs. There were even rumblings of Brady returning to the Bay Area in 2022, too, after he retired briefly.

But the story stays the same as the hometown kid will play as an opponent once again.
