49ers 2022 NFL Draft target No. 2: CB Roger McCreary, Auburn

Roger McCreary is slipping in the draft for reasons not related to his play on the field. Once thought of as a top cornerback in the draft, He is now projected to be a second-rounder.

Playing for Auburn allowed him to showcase his talents against the best receivers college football had to offer, and McCreary was more often than not successful in these matchups. McCreary is listed at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds with a natural ability to re-route receivers with his jam at the line of scrimmage.

His height is a bit of a concern when compared to the other top corners in the draft, but McCreary is near the top in pure coverage skills. He finished his college career with six interceptions and was named first-team All-American his senior season.

If the 49ers have any prayer of selecting McCreary, they would need to package a few picks and get closer to the top of the second round. McCreary could press for a starting job his rookie season with the team.
