49ers Round 6 NFL Draft Target: Dontario Drummond, Ole Miss

Possession receivers do matter, and the 49ers could stand to target at least one with the three picks they have in Round 6, two of them being compensatory at the back end of the round.

Ole Miss wide receiver Dontario Drummond certainly isn’t going to win any footraces, but the 6-foot-1, 215-pound prospect did manage to produce with 76 receptions for 1,028 yards and eight touchdowns last year, and the Niners may be enticed by his physicality at the catch point.

If anything, Drummond might be a Jauan Jennings-type player capable of making those crucial third-down grabs in contested spaces. And while San Francisco already has Jennings to do such things, fueling some competition is never a bad thing.

Especially in the case of Deebo Samuel being traded and, unless another wideout is picked up, Jennings suddenly having to take on a bigger role in 2022.
