Round 4, Pick No. 134 Overall: 49ers select EDGE DeAngelo Malone

The 49ers knew they drafted a gem when they announced EDGE Nick Bosa’s name on day one of the 2019 NFL Draft, but what they haven’t seen yet is his equivalent on the other side.

Enter edge specialist DeAngelo Malone.

With Dee Ford on his way out, it paves the way for Malone to make his way in. He’s an every-down defender and has tremendous upside against both the pass and the run.

He’s brings an incredible football IQ, stuffs the run, and for lack of better words, covers the field like a blanket, as evident by his numbers.

As a senior for the Hilltoppers, Malone amassed 94 tackles, four forced fumbles and nine quarterback sacks, which was good enough for second in his conference. In tackles for a loss, he led all players with 16.5.

It’s clear the 49ers could use a top-notch defender of his caliber, so much in fact, they’ve already scheduled a visit.

If Malone is the pick, the Niners have their bookend outside pass-rushers in place for the foreseeable future.
