49ers 4-round mock draft including blockbuster Deebo Samuel trade
Round 2, Pick No. 61 Overall: 49ers select OT Abraham Lucas
The current state of the 49ers offensive front is shaky at best. With left guard Laken Tomlinson leaving for the New York Jets, right tackle Mike McGlinchey’s uncertain future and now center Alex Mack considering retirement, this group needs help in a big way.
Washington State offensive tackle Abraham Lucas is a big physical presence, but he’s more than just that. He has a refined mental game and overpowers his opposition to the ground with imposing leverage.

Lucas has been mocked as early as the second round, and as late as the fourth, but if you see a need on the board and it’s the best player available, you pull the trigger.
Seeing Lucas on the opposite end of a line that boasts All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams is enough to make any quarterback feel comfortable. And that’s what the 49ers must do, make starter Trey Lance feel comfortable.
San Francisco must keep the future of the franchise healthy, and they must put him in a position to succeed. Furthermore, they have no business putting Lance on the field if they are not going to cater to his success.
As stated before, the line is in shambles, but adding a future All-Pro to the mix is a very good start.
If Lucas is there on day two when the Niners reach the podium, no other option will suffice.
