NFL Draft Pick No. 27: Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Kenyon Green, Guard, Texas A&M

Tom Brady has returned to the team, but he’s returning to an offensive line that’s much weaker than he left it. The guard position is an utmost priority with Alex Cappa defecting to the Cincinnati Bengals and Ali Marpet announcing his retirement.

The Buccaneers would love to see Zion Johnson fall, but in this mock, he’s plucked off the board. Kenyon Green, however, isn’t a bad consolation prize, as he’s been a versatile and excellent blocker for Texas A&M since his freshman season.

Green played every role along the offensive line for the Aggies except for center in his collegiate career, so he’s very versatile from Day 1. He doesn’t have the ability to play left tackle in the NFL, but he can play either guard position in the NFL. Right tackle is also a possibility, but he’s definitely projected more to play guard.

Texas A&M has been a factory for NFL talent and Green is no exception. His technique is textbook almost every time, and he has the strength to battle inside as well as the mobility if he needs to play as a pulling guard on plays. Green projects as a rock-solid guard and similar to Johnson, he looks like a safe pick to be a solid player at worst in this league.
