NFL Draft Pick No. 11: Washington Commanders – Kyle Hamilton, Safety, Notre Dame

Similar to Derek Stingley, Kyle Hamilton is a big favorite of mine in this draft class. It feels weird to put some a well-regarded prospect this low, but safety isn’t necessarily the biggest priority for a team picking in the top 10.

If this was a mock draft based merely on player talent alone, Hamilton would be selected in the top three. There’s people that have him as the top player overall in the draft, so if the Washington Commanders can nab Hamilton as a replacement for Landon Collins, they could get an absolute steal.

Hamilton simply just does it all as a safety and could even be moved to linebacker, should a team desire to move him there. He reads the play at a level rarely seen in a collegiate prospect, and he’s comfortable in every facet of play.

And when I say every facet, I do mean every facet. Run defense, zone coverage, coverage against receivers or tight ends, he simply does it all with equal vigor.

Hamilton should be a top-five pick based on talent alone, and honestly I do agree that he is the top prospect in this class. He might slip just based on position alone, however, and he’s going to be an excellent player for whoever does take him.
