49ers big-name free-agent target No. 3: Offensive tackle Duane Brown

It’s clear, he’s not the sexy pick, but quality protection on both sides of the offensive line will give starting quarterback Trey Lance the warm and fuzzy’s.

Offensive tackle Duane Brown is 37 years old and could be contemplating retirement, but also, Brown is 37 years old and will come at a bargain price.

With right tackle Mike McGlinchey’s future still uncertain, and Tom Compton packing his bags for the Denver Broncos, this would certainly be a smart play by general manager John Lynch and Co. Add in the possibility of a second- or third-round pick at the position joining the roster via the 2022 NFL Draft, and suddenly the 49ers have viable options.

Recent reports have stated that Brown would welcome a one-year deal, but the Seattle Seahawks don’t seem to be offering one.

Would he take it from his Bay Area rivals?

Only time will tell.
