Round 4, Pick No. 126 Overall (from Raiders): Trey Lance has 49ers select CB Cordale Flott, LSU

For both Trey Lance and the Niners, the 2022 NFL Draft should be less about the sheer quantity of players drafted and more about the quality, meaning multiple trade-ups using day-three picks as ammunition should be on the table.

Already having pulled the trigger on one trade, San Francisco moves up again in Round 4, this time in a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders to get from No. 134 overall to No. 126 overall, costing Lance and the 49ers a mere compensatory sixth-round pick, according to our PFF mock-draft tool:

Lance knows the Niners still need cornerback help despite grabbing Charvarius Ward in NFL free agency. Not only is depth a concern, but there needs to be some additional competition to push returning corners like Emmanuel Moseley and Ambry Thomas, too.

LSU cornerback Cordale Flott isn’t going to fall much further in the round, and there’s a sizable gap between him and some of the other names likely to be had early on day three of the draft.

Sure, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound Flott needs to fill out his body. But he’s a quality option in zone coverage, has a high motor and won’t let himself get outworked.

For a developmental option, Flott would surely be worth the upside.
