Jimmy Garoppolo Suitor No. 1: Seattle Seahawks

Wouldn’t this be ironic?

The 49ers certainly wouldn’t trade Jimmy Garoppolo within the NFC West unless they received an offer that was simply too good to turn down, and the Seattle Seahawks know fully well how Garoppolo is limited as a performer on the field.

Also going through their own rebuild, one might think a team like Seattle would be much more invested in developmental options at quarterback, perhaps someone in the NFL Draft who can sit and wait for a full season while the current projected starter, Drew Lock, takes his licks in what promises to be a frustrating 2022 campaign for the Seahawks.

But Lock, who flamed out with the Denver Broncos and was only an ancillary piece of the blockbuster deal that sent quarterback Russell Wilson to Denver earlier this offseason, surely isn’t a long-term answer either, and one shouldn’t have a tough time arguing Garoppolo would be a much better option.

Plus, it isn’t as if the Hawks wouldn’t mind getting inside Garoppolo’s head anyway to pick his brain about the nuances of head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

Both the Seahawks and Niners have plucked their opponents’ castoffs away before, and this certainly wouldn’t be the first time something like this has happened.

Still, it sure would be a massive case of irony if Jimmy G ends up calling Seattle his home.
