Notre Dame. Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa. player. Scouting Report. EDGE. 258. 819. Pick Analysis

Round 7, Pick No. 258 Overall (Compensatory): 49ers select EDGE Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, Notre Dame

San Francisco would love to pair a quality edge rusher with Nick Bosa heading into 2022, especially with the likelihood the team parts ways with oft-injured EDGE Dee Ford and is unable to re-sign last year’s pass-rushing standout, Arden Key, to a new deal.

Unfortunately, other pressing needs took priority over the pass-rush department, but that shouldn’t stop the 49ers from trying to land a situational pass-rusher in what’s turning out to be a deep enough class for talent.

Notre Dame EDGE Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa is a bit of a tweener at 6-foot-2 and 270 pounds, and he certainly won’t be setting any sack records at the NFL level, having just five over his last two seasons in college.

As far as effort, though, it’s there. And a 4.81 40-yard time at the NFL Combine, along with a solid 115-inch vertical jump, shows there’s enough athleticism for him to make up for the lack of sheer talent.

Besides, depth pass-rushers are important, too, and the Niners could stand for one late in the draft as a developmental prospect in the rotation.
