5 dream targets for 49ers in 2022 NFL Draft
By Peter Panacy
49ers dream target No. 2: CB Trent McDuffie, Washington
Going back to the cornerback theme here, and let’s hope the 49ers take notice.
Washington cornerback Trent McDuffie was an early Niner Noise draft crush way back at the early portions of the 2021 season, and McDuffie certainly saw his draft stock rise from being a likely Round 2 prospect and into someone who’ll likely go towards the tail end of the first round.
“Likely” being the keyword here.

McDuffie continued his impressive ascent in 2021, and those six passes broken up reinforced the idea he’s capable of shutting down his side of the field.
While McDuffie’s smallish frame (5-foot-11 and 195 pounds) suggests he’s not quite adequate to play a boundary cornerback role, which might deter some teams from using a first-round pick on him, don’t let it fool you. McDuffie plays much bigger than his size would indicate, which is a necessity in the pass-happy Pac-12.
The Niners can always dream a prospect like McDuffie inexplicably ends up falling on draft day and right into their collective lap.
