49ers 2022 NFL Draft order finally set following NFC Championship loss
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers don’t have a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, but we do know the approximate order and where the Niners will pick in each round.
In a perfect world, the San Francisco 49ers would be picking at the very end of each round in the 2022 NFL Draft, meaning they would have secured victory in Super Bowl LVI.
That won’t happen, of course, as the Niners were bounced from the NFL playoffs after falling to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game by a score of 20-17. It does mean, however, San Francisco finished as one of the league’s final-four teams, and it’ll be rewarded with being slated with one of the final-four picks in the 2022 draft this spring.
Of course, the most attention is always given to Round 1 selections, and the 49ers don’t have theirs after using it as part of the lucrative trade package sent to the Miami Dolphins to move up and grab quarterback Trey Lance in last year’s draft.
Miami, of course, would have preferred to see the Niners perform poorly this season, which would have meant a higher first-round pick.
San Francisco didn’t follow that course, though, and thankfully so.
49ers order for 2022 NFL Draft officially set
The 49ers are projected to have eight picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, according to Tankathon, which will include a predicted three compensatory picks, and those aren’t going to be officially announced until later this spring.

Without a first-round pick, the Niners will be inactive on day one of the draft, barring some lucrative trade movement to land a Round 1 selection.
If they did have a pick, the one now owned by the Dolphins, it would be at No. 29 overall.
List of 49ers 2022 NFL Draft picks
- Round 2, No. 61 overall
- Round 3, No. 93 overall
- Round 4, No. 130 overall
- Round 5, No. 170 overall
- Round 6, No. 186 overall (from Broncos)
- Round 7, No. 251 overall (compensatory)
- Round 7, No. 254 overall (compensatory)
- Round 7, No. 260 overall (compensatory)
It’s important to note picks between Rounds 3 and 7 could shuffle a bit, as many of the predicted compensatory picks wind up being different than Tankathon’s initial projections. The league uses a complicated formula not released to the media and general public to determine comp picks, although there are some predictions to determine whether or not teams can qualify for them.
For San Francisco’s original picks, they’ll occur 29th in each round. And the sixth-round selection was picked up by the Denver Broncos in exchange for linebacker Jonas Griffith, who was traded following last year’s preseason.
