The San Francisco 49ers walked onto Lambeau Field on Saturday with two things on their mind: Beat the Packers and advance to the NFC Championship.
The San Francisco 49ers are starring in a Cinderella season that will not end. After much scrutiny, and plenty of reasons why they should have lost, the Niners are packing their bags for the NFC Championship game after pulling off a nail-biting yet thrilling 13-10 win over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC divisional round.
It’s San Francisco’s fifth appearance in the NFC Championship game in 11 years and the second trip in three years with head coach Kyle Shanahan.
For the third week in a row, the game has been decided on the final drive, in the final minutes. In those three games, the 49ers have certainly brought the wow factor, securing every victory on the road.
Although Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers hasn’t faired well against the Niners in the postseason, it’s no secret that he’s set records in his 16-year career. Last night, one of those records fell. Rodgers is now 41-1 in games where his defense allows 14 points or less.
Rodgers is 0-4 in postseason play against San Francisco, too, and 6-7 against the franchise lifetime including the playoffs.
Although Saturday night’s contest was a team victory, there were a few performances that stood out.
