49ers interested in signing Deebo Samuel to long term deal in the offseason
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, running back Elijah Mitchell, tight end George Kittle, and of course, defensive end Nick Bosa have been instrumental to the success of the San Francisco 49ers. But while their contributions have been incredibly valuable, Deebo Samuel has been the brightest star on a team with plenty of them.
Deebo Samuel has done it all
The All-Pro wide receiver was easily their most explosive and versatile weapon, racking up 1,405 receiving yards during the regular season. In addition to his pass-catching ability, head coach Kyle Shanahan has realized that getting Samuel’s the ball as much as possible is a good thing. During the second half of the season, Samuel was used heavily as a rusher. In his first eight games, he carried the ball only six times for 22 yards. In the final eight, however, he touted the rock 53 times for 343 yards.
Due to his ability to impact the game in a multitude of ways, both Samuel and the 49ers franchise would like that partnership to continue.
As first reported by Ian Rapoport, both sides are interested in hammering out a blockbuster deal in the offseason. If everything goes well behind closed doors, the standout receiver, who’s entering the final year of his rookie contract, could become a 49er for years to come.
Although Samuel has proven his worth with a Pro Bowl selection and All-Pro nod this year, he upped his value during their playoff run. this year. In last week’s Wild Card showdown against the Dallas Cowboys, Samuel sauntered onto the field and dominated. The 49ers eked out a close six-point victory, thanks in part to 38 receiving yards and 72 rushing yards by Samuel.
The former 2019 second-round draft pick figures to be a prominent figure in the 49ers game plan later on tonight as they attempt to dethrone the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau.
