Round 6, Pick No. 191 Overall (from Broncos): EDGE Cade Hall, San Jose State

Why not stay local?

This is the pick the Niners acquired from the trade that sent linebacker Jonas Griffith to the Denver Broncos, and it would be worth spending on one of those sleeper picks who could wind up turning into a quality player at the NFL level.

San Jose State EDGE Cade Hall is certainly one of those players, particularly looking at his 10-sack campaign from 2020 in which he also recorded 12 tackles for a loss. And while 2021 wasn’t anywhere close to as impressive, Hall nevertheless has some positive attributes such as his speed and violent attack in the pass-rush department.

San Francisco already has an elite edge rusher in Nick Bosa, but it’s likely to move on from fellow EDGE Dee Ford this offseason, largely because of his massive injury history. While reserve pass-rusher Arden Key has seen a resurgence in 2021, he’s also a free agent and could be seeking a bigger contract than the one the 49ers would like to offer.

Either way, when a team thinks it has enough pass-rushers, it’s always good to add another. The Niners do that here with Hall.
