The 49ers open up as early favorites against the Titans on a short week for Thursday Night Football in Week 16, according to oddsmakers at WynnBET.

In both of our second-half San Francisco 49ers game-by-game predictions, we had head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad losing its Week 16 Thursday Night Football road matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

We might want to rethink those predictions.

The Titans, now 9-5 and coming off an ugly 19-13 road loss at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers, have been leaking oil ever since the loss of running back Derrick Henry to a foot injury way back earlier this season. And while he might return in time for the playoffs, the Niners need not be concerned about him now.

Especially with Tennessee’s offense struggling to find any sort of continuity on a regular basis without Henry in the mix.

Meanwhile, San Francisco now finds itself 8-6 after winning six of its last eight games, including a one-sided 31-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons to generate all kinds of momentum heading into this short-week prime-time matchup.

49ers vs. Titans odds Week 16

Considering the way both teams have trended in recent weeks, notably the Titans having lost three of their last four, it shouldn’t be a shock the oddsmakers over at WynnBET are listing the road-team 49ers as three-point favorites for Week 16.

Early on, this might have been a pipe dream, as Tennessee was fully in play for the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoff picture.

But things have certainly changed since early this season, speaking for both squads.

The Niners’ moneyline opened up at -165, while the Titans are at +145.

The over/under is currently set at 44.5.

49ers vs. Titans prediction Week 16

It would be so fun predicting yet another San Francisco in this one, tacking on even more to the hot streak and pushing Shanahan’s squad even higher up the NFC standings.

But road trips back east, particularly on a short week, are always challenging. And that was arguably the biggest factor why our original predictions slated Week 16 as a likely Niners loss.

Despite the team’s recent hot streak, it’s hard to veer too far away from that prediction.

San Francisco probably falls victim to one of those sloppy games, understandable from the shorter week and less preparation, ultimately falling 24-20 and failing to cover.

If we’re wrong, though, it’ll still be good news.
