49ers game Sunday: 49ers vs. Falcons odds and prediction for NFL Week 15 game
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers open up as big favorites versus the Falcons in Week 15 where the Niners hope to improve to 8-6 down the stretch ahead of the playoffs.
Two years ago, the Atlanta Falcons put a small dent in the San Francisco 49ers‘ attempts to claim the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture. And while the Niners eventually secured that spot en route to the Super Bowl, they did suffer a bit of a trap-game letdown to the Falcons in the loss at Levi’s Stadium on that last-second touchdown by now-Tennessee Titans wide receiver Julio Jones.
San Francisco is hoping this season generates different results.
It might not necessarily be a trap game anyway, not after the 49ers pulled off a gut-checking 26-23 overtime win in Week 14 over the Cincinnati Bengals, a game where head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad held a 20-6 lead only to lose it and the lead before securing the victory in the extra frame.
The Falcons, meanwhile, have dealt with plenty of troubles on offense and defense this season, too. But they still managed to pull off a road win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 14 to improve to 6-7.
49ers vs. Falcons odds Week 15
There might only be a one-game sway between the two teams this deep into the season, but it’s not a stretch to say the 49ers are notably a better team.
That’s what the folks over at WynnBET are thinking, too, giving the Niners an opening point spread of minus-8, making San Francisco a significant favorite in this bout at Levi’s Stadium.
The 49ers’ moneyline to open up is -400, while the Falcons’ is +320.
The over/under for the game is currently 45.0.
49ers vs. Falcons prediction Week 15
If the Niners had dominated their Week 14 showdown against the Bengals, or if Shanahan’s squad won both its road games on the two-game road trip, Week 15 could have ended up the classic trap game.
After all, the Falcons entered their Week 14 matchup with the NFL’s 27th-ranked scoring offense and the second-worst scoring defense, opening up the door for San Francisco to impose its will on both sides of the ball.

An while quarterback Matt Ryan and the Falcons have won two of their last three games, the other victory was over the hapless Jacksonville Jaguars, while the Panthers haven’t exactly been playing good football as of late either.
Considering the 49ers are fully aware of how important their final four-game stretch is, plus the fact they have to travel on a short week to face the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football in Week 16, it’s imperative Shanahan and Co. go all-out for a victory on Sunday.
Atlanta might cover, but let’s give the Niners a 27-21 victory.
