4 biggest bone-headed plays from 49ers loss to Seahawks

No. 1: 49ers fail to guard against Seahawks fake punt
Within the first few minutes, it appeared the 49ers defense would be hot in Week 13, and the opening stand in the first quarter sure seemed to indicate it, forcing a quick Seahawks 3-and-out.
That was fine, yes. But, for whatever the reason, the Niners elected not to be wary of some Hawks trickery on the ensuing punt, which ultimately turned into a 73-yard Seattle touchdown by running back Travis Homer on the indirect snap:
A previously 3-8 team like the Seahawks is going to do things like this, and the Niners’ special teams group should have at least thought it possible. The Hawks have nothing to lose in cases like these, especially with the game being so early.
Overall, San Francisco’s special teams were atrocious on Sunday, and while this game didn’t necessarily determine the outcome, all one needs to do is look at the final score to realize it played a massive role.
And the 49ers are back to .500 because of botched plays like these.
