player. 36. . . . Russell Wilson. 5

No. 5: Russell Wilson, Seahawks

Should Russell Wilson be higher on a list of NFC West quarterback power rankings? Should he be even higher than Jimmy Garoppolo?

Yes, he should. But Wilson isn’t.

The last two games since Wilson returned from his broken finger have been nothing short of abysmal, and the stat lines from Seattle’s two losses over that span tell a pretty notable story:

  • Week 10 loss vs. Green Bay Packers: 20-of-40, 161 yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs, 3 sacks, 39.7 rating
  • Week 11 loss vs. Arizona Cardinals: 14-of-26, 207 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, 4 sacks, 80.1 rating

That Packers loss stands out, as our friends over at 12th Man Rising pointed out here. And what’s made Wilson and the Seahawks’ demise so shocking is just how unexpected it has been. Wilson is regularly viewed as among the league’s elite. Sure, Seattle’s troubles extend far beyond the problems under center, but Wilson has historically been capable of overriding those issues.

He hasn’t so far this year, especially as of late.

Knowing Wilson, though, he’ll likely climb any rankings in the very near future.
