No. 6: Geno Smith, Seahawks

Trey Lance is San Francisco’s future and had the lone start while Jimmy Garoppolo was nursing a calf injury.

Meanwhile, Seahawks backup quarterback Geno Smith is not Seattle’s long-term future. And while he managed to get in three starts in place of the injured Russell Wilson, going 1-2 in the process with at least one decisive outing against the Jaguars, there probably shouldn’t be too much separation between Smith and Lance.

If Smith holds any advantage, it’s in the experience department, although Lance’s potential upside negates that.

Over his three-plus games, Smith went 65-of-95 for 702 yards and five touchdowns against one interception, posting a 103.0 passer rating. Yet the Seahawks’ issues extend far beyond Smith’s efforts on the field.

And the fact he’s little more than a modest backup won’t afford him the opportunity to rank any higher on this list.
