The 49ers should enjoy their first serious mismatch game in a while as they travel on a short week to visit the lowly Jaguars in Week 11.

Short weeks aren’t fun for any NFL team, especially ones on the West Coast who have to travel all the way across the country for the equivalent of a 10 a.m. PT kickoff.

But if there’s one team the San Francisco 49ers would prefer to face in this context, it’d be the 2-7 Jacksonville Jaguars.

Coming off a Monday Night Football shocking win versus the Los Angeles Rams in Week 10, head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad can hopefully have a “get right” game against the Jags, who are still muddling their way through the league despite picking up something of a shocking victory over the Buffalo Bills two weeks ago before falling by one score to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10.

This will mean the Niners have to make rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence look like, well, a rookie in this bout, while Shanahan will hope to completely outcoach Jacksonville’s own coach, Urban Meyer, in what’s been a frustrating first-year NFL campaign for him.

49ers vs. Jaguars odds Week 11

San Francisco hasn’t particularly done well against the spread this season, but Week 11 might be the time to look towards the 49ers as a betting favorite, both in terms of being a straight-up victor and covering the spread.

The oddsmakers over at WynnBET opened the line with the Niners as 5.0-point favorites over Jacksonville, and San Francisco’s moneyline is currently at -220.

The Jaguars’ moneyline is +185, while the over/under is 46.0.

49ers vs. Jaguars prediction Week 11

Yes, the 49ers should win this contest. And hopefully by a decisive fashion.

The short week and extended travel might mean Shanahan’s offense starts off slowish, and it’ll surely be interesting if Shanahan elects to begin using rookie quarterback Trey Lance over the veteran, Jimmy Garoppolo, to give his team a spark.

But either quarterback should be sufficient enough to take command over a Jaguars defense that ranks 27th in scoring after Week 10.

It might be a low-scoring game, surely by halftime. Yet look for the Niners to fully take command after halftime en route to a quality 27-16 win on the road.
