49ers roster: Power ranking top 10 offensive players entering Week 7
By Peter Panacy
No. 4: 49ers Fullback Kyle Juszczyk
As is the case with many of the 49ers’ other offensive players this season, it says a lot — both good and bad — when fullback Kyle Juszczyk makes it into the top five of our offensive power rankings entering Week 7.
From the good perspective, Kyle Shanahan is using Juszczyk as a receiving weapon more this season, as his four-plus touches per game is a sizable increase over the 2.3 touch average he had in 2020. Juszczyk is delivering, too, currently ranking fourth on offense with 151 net yards on the season, 135 of which have come through the air as a mismatch receiving weapon.
As a pass blocker, Juszczyk is also impressing, posting a quality 74.5 pass-blocking grade, per Pro Football Focus, although his 47.7 run-blocking grade is still a bit low to be considered entirely worthy of his presence as a lead blocker.
Still, Juszczyk needs to be an all-around weapon for the Niners, particularly if Trey Lance begins to get worked into a starting role more.
And if George Kittle continues to miss time. A player like Juszczyk can help out with that a lot.
