Week 6 NFC West Power Rankings: Arizona Cardinals, No. 1

Perhaps it’s something of a bragging right San Francisco held the high-flying Cardinals Air-Raid offense to just 17 points and 304 total yards in Week 5, even though moral victories don’t count for much as far as standings go.

Arizona entered last week’s contest with the league’s No. 1-ranked scoring and yardage offense, which has now fallen to fourth and sixth, respectively. That said, the Cardinals’ usual suspects on offense, quarterback Kyler Murray and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, sure made the 49ers’ defensive life difficult during the game.

Murray, in particular, is still playing at an MVP-like level, too, and he’ll certainly join Matthew Stafford in that discussion along with Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Those three have been excellent so far this season.

But what puts Arizona in the proverbial driver’s seat thus far is the fact it’s the lone remaining undefeated team across the league.

Teams don’t accidentally fall into being undefeated after five weeks unless they’re actually good. In the Cardinals’ case, they are.

Things could change, though, as Arizona has to travel to take on the potent Cleveland Browns in Week 6, followed by a Week 8 home bout versus the Packers. Those games will be telling. But for now, the Cardinals stand atop the NFC West and the rest of the league.
