The 49ers visit the Cardinals for a crucial Week 5 NFC West match, and Niner Noise breaks down the betting spread, injury report and how you can watch.

The San Francisco 49ers are licking their wounds, metaphorically and physically, following back-to-back losses in Weeks 3 and 4 that derailed what was otherwise a perfect start to the 2021 season.

After kicking off the year 2-0, the .500 Niners don’t face an easier task in Week 5 when they travel to take on the red-hot and undefeated Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, already a nemesis for San Francisco’s defense, is playing at an MVP-caliber level, connecting with an array of pass-catchers, six of whom have already crest more than 100 receiving yards on the young season.

For a 49ers team struggling to generate turnovers and lacking consistency within the secondary, that poses a massive problem.

Unless rookie quarterback Trey Lance can answer in turn.

49ers injury report vs. Cardinals Week 5

The following Niners players showed up on the Week 5 injury report, including two notable offensive players:

  • EDGE Samson Ebukam (hamstring): Questionable
  • QB Jimmy Garoppolo (calf): OUT
  • TE George Kittle (calf): Doubtful
  • CB K’Waun Williams (calf): OUT
  • DT Javon Kinlaw (knee): Questionable

Garoppolo’s calf injury, suffered early in Week 4, opened up the door for Lance to take over in the second half against the Seattle Seahawks. And while Lance had his moments where he clearly looked like a first-year rookie, he was also responsible for two touchdowns in the game and helped spark what was a valiant, if insufficient second-half comeback.

49ers vs. Cardinals odds, spread, over/under & betting pick Week 5

The oddsmakers over at WynnBET have San Francisco as a 4.5-point underdog against Arizona, which isn’t too big a surprise considering the Cardinals own the No. 1 scoring and yardage offense through four weeks.

The Niners’ moneyline is +200, while Arizona is -240.

Considering the Cardinals’ prolific scoring abilities this season, it might be an interesting bet to take the over, which is currently set at 50.0 and against Arizona averaging 35 points a game.

If that trend holds, and San Francisco manages more than 15 points, it’s a betting-pick win.

49ers next game and schedule

San Francisco gets another early bye week this season, and it’s probably a good thing considering the number of injuries suffered.

  • Week 8 @ Chicago Bears: Sunday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. ET
