No. 1: Mac Jones, New England Patriots

No, Niners fans. You shouldn’t be what-iffing about San Francisco wisely passing on Mac Jones, only to wonder if the New England Patriots got the steal of the century when Jones slipped all the way to No. 15 overall.

Jones winds up being atop these power rankings for a couple of reasons, none of which should be surprising.

First of all, Jones was widely viewed as the most pro-ready quarterback out of all the options not named Trevor Lawrence, and even some thought Jones would have a better rookie year than Lawrence would anyway, especially considering Jones’ situation with the Pats under head coach Bill Belichick.

New England isn’t asking Jones to do too much anyway, typically going with a dink-and-dunk approach to receiving targets who are usually schemed open for him. There hasn’t been much of the explosive play or Jones wholly commanding the offense.

Still, it’s hard to complain about his 67.5 completion percentage with two touchdowns against three interceptions for a 79.1 passer rating when factoring in how most of the other rookie quarterbacks have fared thus far.

While Jones is tops on this list, his ceiling probably isn’t going to get exponentially higher.
