No. 2: 49ers Wide Receiver Brandon Aiyuk

One of San Francisco’s more troubling developments over the first two weeks of the season has been the lack of production from second-year wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who saw zero targets in Week 1 and then hauled in a mere one pass for 6 yards in Week 2.

Aiyuk’s slow start could be pinned on a number of different things. Either way, though, it’s in the 49ers’ best interests to get him going. Now.

Fortunately, Green Bay’s secondary and lack of pass rush should present a juicy opportunity for the former Round 1 NFL Draft pick to finally have his breakout game of 2021.

Jaire Alexander on Deebo Samuel essentially means Aiyuk will frequently find himself lining up opposite Packers underperforming cornerback Kevin King, who has already allowed six receptions on seven targets for 153 yards with opposing quarterbacks completing 85.7 percent of their passes when targeting him.

This is a tremendous opportunity for Aiyuk to get going, especially if Samuel is drawing a lot of attention.
