Sit: 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo

No doubt, this is a bit of a surprise for some as Jimmy Garoppolo passed for 314 yards and a touchdown in a good fantasy performance, but this is where you look a bit deeper into the game and see some concerns.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan subbed Garoppolo out in the red zone for rookie Trey Lance. Lance threw a touchdown, Garoppolo was on the bench.

Garoppolo did throw a touchdown himself, but it was a slightly underthrown ball under a lot of pressure that Deebo Samuel was able to snag and take to the house.  That’s not a sustainable way to score.

Of course, sitting Garoppolo is dependent on having a good quarterback you can insert in for Week 2.

But in saying that, I sincerely hope the inconsistent Garoppolo isn’t your QB1. That’s asking for trouble.

If Garoppolo continues to be rotated out in the red zone, then do consider trying to trade him (particularly in dynasty leagues).

For now, it’s just a wait-and-see situation. Maybe Garoppolo gets some chances in the red zone, and then you can feel better about starting him.

And, no, this doesn’t mean you can start Lance if you have him in a dynasty league. Yet.
