Start: 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t advocate starting any 49ers running backs, just because of how KyleShanahan loves to rotate his backs according to the situation.

But this may be a special case. Raheem Mostert is out for the season, Trey Sermon is presumably activated for this week, but who knows how many carries he’ll have?, and JaMycal Hasty only had the one carry.

This leaves rookie Elijah Mitchell, who was incredible on debut picking up the slack after Mostert’s injury with 104 yards rushing and a touchdown on debut.

This comes with a few caveats to remember. The first is the aforementioned rotation which can happen near the end zone (Hasty’s one run was a touchdown plunge), and the other is there’s no guarantee on if they’ll give the lion’s share to Mitchell or not.

But if you’re lucky enough to have him stashed on your squad, he should be a nice candidate. Just keep in mind, the Eagles have a stouter run defense than the Lions.
