4 problems 49ers must solve in preseason finale vs. Raiders
By Peter Panacy
No. 1: Will 49ers cornerback depth be adequate enough?
Maybe rookie cornerback Deommodore Lenoir has helped alleviate some of the earlier worries the 49ers had about this position this offseason.
But the same concerns ring true: The Niners can’t be too confident in the health and durability of starting corners Jason Verrett and K’Waun Williams, and there are an awful lot of unknowns behind them, Lenoir included.

Granted, Lenoir has looked excellent over two preseason bouts, being targeted six times, recording an interception and even allowing an opposing passer rating of 0.0 during that stretch. Yet any cornerback can have a solid two-game outing.
The matter will be consistency, determining if Lenoir’s early success is a sign of things to come.
Hopefully, it is. Especially with fellow rookie cornerback Ambry Thomas having somewhat of a sluggish start to his rookie year and San Francisco not exactly boasting a lot of other proven options on the depth chart.
The 49ers need at least one player between Lenoir and Thomas to develop into someone reliable right away to help guard against the real possibility Verrett and/or Williams misses an extended period of time this season.
The Niners and Raiders kick off on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. ET from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
